GLOBECORE’S EQUIPMENT FOR CHANGING OIL IN GEARBOXES OF WIND TURBINES ON WIND FARMS

History of wind turbines

Wind turbines have been used in farms for a long time. In the 1st century AD Greek engineer from Alexandria created wind-driven wheel to power a machine. Then in 7th to 9th century wind mill were used in Iran to grind corn, grind flour, and pump water. By 1000 AD windmills are used for pumping seawater to make salt in China

Problems of winds turbines

The problems associated with gearboxes in wind turbines exist. The key mechanical and power-generating elements in a wind turbine are generator and gearbox.  Other components are blades, shaft, tower, nacelle. Operational experience reveals that the gearboxes of modern electrical wind turbines at the are  their weakest component.   As turbine sizes increased, the design of  gearboxes is able to handle the torque generated by longer and heavier blades has become a problem. The typical lifetime of a wind turbine is 20 years, but the gearboxes commonly fail within of 5 years of operation, and have to be replaced . A gearbox replacement can cost up  to 10 percent of the original construction cost.

Importance of oil changing and filtration

Manufacturers of wind turbines have made their turbines more reliable by improving the oil lubrication and filtration system in the gearbox so it can remove all particles larger than seven microns in size. If a particle of that size breaks free of the meshing gears, it can  damage other gears and bearings.

So importance of using equipment for oil changing and filtration is rather topical. Therefore advanced technology of GlobeCore will let you to keep gear boxes in proper working conditions. GlobeCore ‘s equipment designed to change and filtrate oil in the gearboxes of wind turbines.

Pakistan. CMM-4/7 successfully starts its work

May 13, 2017, another GlobeCore plant was successfully put into operation.

In Lahore (Pakistan), a CMM-4/7 unit serviced the power transformers through heating, drying, cleaning, degassing and nitriding of the insulating oil. This equipment can provide ISO 4406 cleanliness class – / 14/12 of industrial oil. It also achieves moisture content  by weight below  5 g / t, and the volumetric gas content 0.1%.

GlobeCore transformer oil purification systems extend the service life of power transformers and reduce financial costs. More detailed technical characteristics of this equipment can be found here.

Ecuador hosted a GlobeCore seminar

May 3-4, 2017 in Quito (Ecuador), GlobeCore presented a seminar on cleaning and regeneration of transformer oil.

The event was attended by representatives of companies from electricity sector of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and other countries.

On the first day the participants were presented with our company’s achievements in transformer oil regeneration. An example of oil regeneration was shown on a real energized transformer with the CMM-12P regeneration unit. This equipment was commissioned in August  last year and successfully performs the required tasks. The presentation was discussed, and all questions answered.

The second day of the seminar was devoted to technical and commercial issues of possible cooperation on an individual basis.

GlobeCore is very grateful to all the guests for attending and showing their interest in the seminar, and Tcontrol S.A. – for their help in organizing and conducting the event.

CMM-4/7 started up in Estonia

April 10, 2017 GlobeCore specialists started up a CMM-4/7 unit in Tallinn (Estonia).

This equipment is used by business engaged in installation, repair and operation of power transformers for degassing and filtration of insulating oil. Also, the units can be used to heat oil-filled electrical appliances with hot oil, for vacuum dehydration and evacuation of transformers.

CMM-4/7 thermal vacuum processing obtains the following oil parameters:

  • moisture content  by weight below 5 g / t;
  • filtration  fineness below 5 microns;
  • volumetric gas content below 0.1%;
  • dielectric strength, minimum 70 kV.

By choosing a CMM-4/7 unit you get a compact, easy-to-maintain and operate equipment that can be used effectively at the site. Please receive consultation by contacting our managers at corresponding page of our site.

Filters for Compressors

filter for compressor

Filter for compressor. Compressors are designed to compress air. They have special filters, which protect both the mechanisms of compressors and the gas used in the systems. The filter is selected according to the type of compressor. Let’s look at the most common types of filters.

Air filters are used to protect the compressor air chamber from dust. Generally, the rotary-screw compressor has a two-stage purification system which, first captures large particles of contaminants (coarse filter), and then small particles (fine filtration).

A filter for compressor oil purifies oil, which flows into the compressor chamber, removing dust.

Air-oil separators separate oil from air after passing through the compressor chamber. They do not directly affect the operation of compressors, but are still very important. Air-oil separators save oil and clean the air produced by the compressor.

Special attention should be paid to waste compressor oil. During operation the compressor oil falls under the influence of a number of negative factors (high temperatures, contamination by various impurities and gases). As a result, the oil loses some of its operational properties, and must either be replaced or regenerated to its original condition.

GlobeCore developed an oil treatment unit for compressor oils that reduces the water content  to 10 ppm and air content to 0.25% respectively, removes solid particles, extends the life of oil, increases the service life of compressors and reduces downtime  and amount of maintenance and repair work.
